Surveillance Cameras- A New Crime Fighting Tool

June 16th, 2009

ip-223w-ir2.jpg

The City of Federal Way in Washington has recently started a new program in part funded by Target Corp. It involves watching the city with 27 remotely controlled surveillance cameras. The surveillance has already produced some positive results.

The cameras pictures which can be viewed over the internet are being watched by officers in their patrol cars on their laptops and of course back at police headquarters. They have already actually identified some bad guys thru the surveillance cameras so it is paying off.

To date 20 other cities are doing similar programs. I remember Denver, Colorado using cameras to cut down on graffiti taggers not long ago.

The idea of course is to cut down on crime in the face of declining manpower resources almost every city faces due to budget cuts. These tools can be used 24/7/365 with no sick days or overtime.

The recordings form the basis for prosecuting cases ranging from misdemeanors to felonies. It is mighty strong evidence to be sure.

The cameras are only recording public areas protecting citizen privacy. The ACLU of course is on the case claiming it is leading to a “surveillance society.”

In Great Britain, by way of example, surveillance cameras are everywhere on city streets and transportation hubs. If you walk on a city street in London, you are on video at least once.

The cameras “will deter bad behavior by exposing crimes in progress, helping prosecutions and preventing camera-wary criminals from attempting to break the law” according to project coordinator Lt. Sandy Tudor.

The surveillance camera system is web based but don’t look for anything on You Tube anytime in the future. It is only on the police department network further insuring privacy.

Just imagine the possibilities of a call coming in for help due to an assault. The assault is recorded on camera enabling an officer to get a great description of the bad guy greatly increasing chances of apprehension. This is crime fighting in the 21st century and just one possibility of what this technology can do.

A well placed home surveillance camera can send an awesome signal to a savvy bad guy. And don’t fool yourself burglars are smart. Why would they knowingly commit a crime with a surveillance camera trained on their butt?

Surveillance cameras can definitely help in high crime areas to help eliminate the very real threats of vandals and gangs and most importantly help to keep your city safe.

How a Surveillance Camera System Can Help Maintain Real Estate Values

Yesterday my son in law called from Germany to tell me about a story he saw on CNN. Guess that shows for sure what a small world we live in. The story in a nutshell was about how neighborhoods around the U.S. that have been decimated by foreclosures have also had declining home values. This is further exacerbated by gang related vandalism and drugs in the vacant homes.

It isn’t just gangs either. Families who have been displaced by home foreclosure and may be down on their luck have taken occupancy of vacant homes. Once the bank forecloses a property do you honestly think they will spend another nickel protecting it? The homes lie vacant just waiting for trouble.

Some police departments have turned the other way in the later case and have very limited resources to deal with the gangs and drugs. So a conscientious homeowner who just happens to be in a neighborhood with several foreclosures cannot usually rely on law enforcement help. They just sit back and watch their home value go down the toilet.

Some are not content with that are actively fighting back. Here are some things they are doing that help.

1. Most neighborhoods have covenants especially pertaining to appearance. Force the bank to be a good neighbor and take care of the place. They actually have a stake in the community too.

2. Start or join a Neighborhood Watch Program. Your local Sheriff’s department can help get it going.

3. Get some surveillance cameras for your neighborhood or at least for your home. People are less likely to vandalize if they see surveillance cameras.

First and most important, a well placed home surveillance camera can send an awesome signal to a savvy burglar. And don’t fool yourself burglars are smart. Why would they knowingly plan on robbing a home with a surveillance camera and risk getting caught when down the street there is a home without one?

If they are unfortunate enough to not see the surveillance camera and burglarize the property they will get caught. You’ve seen it yourself on the evening news-the masked burglar doing his thing at a bank, liquor store or convenience store-they always get caught don’t they?

So consider getting a surveillance camera for your home or neighborhood. They are easy to install, more affordable than before and will work to help eliminate the very real threats of vandals and gangs and most importantly help to keep your property values up.

CyberEye-”Who’s that Creepin’?”

One of my all time favorite groups is a swing band from California named ‘Big Bad Voodoo Daddy’. They single handedly have caused me hours of watching and listening joy.

I dare you to listen for even a few minutes without getting your hands clappin’ and your toes a tappin’. They are fun to watch too. Catch ‘em live sometime your heart and soul will love you for it.

One of their songs is “Who’s that Creepin’?” The lyrics start this way:

“Who’s that creepin’ through my window
Who’s that creepin’ through my door
You see, I know lots and lots of folks around these parts now
But I ain’t never seen you before”

Have you ever had that feeling someone was creeping around your home, office or business when you weren’t there? Or have you had vandalism done to the outside of your house or car? This wireless digital surveillance camera is one of the most effective digital surveillance cameras on the market and can help you catch the losers.

An infrared 8mm lens uses motion detection technology to sense the image of an intruder inside or outside your home and takes their pictures at 1-60 second intervals. All pics are automatically date/time stamped which is great for evidentiary hearings.

You can use this with a cigarette lighter power adapter hooked up the Cyber eye and aim it out the front window of your car to catch the losers spray painting your home or car. GOTCHA!!! It is perfect for keeping an eye on things worth watching like your home and car not to mention kids and spouse at home.

This surveillance system has many business applications too like night security indoors and outdoors as well. One of my customers used it to catch someone stealing from his office.

The camera has an 8mm lens with built-in infrared that allows the capture of images of people in the dark (up to 10 feet away). This camera includes with 2 remote controls, a power adapter, and a video cable. You view the recorded images at your leisure by connecting the included RCA jack to a TV or a VCR.

It’s easy to install and very small (2-1/4″ High X 3-1/4″ Wide X 3″ Deep). It is not exactly a hidden camera but it is small enough to hide discreetly. When you want to see what is going on when you are not around this could be one solution.

I can remember back in the day when I ran the food program at a large University. Ahhh the bad old days-just as soon forgotten to be honest. Anyhow I digress.

As you walked into the main dining room there was place with cubbyholes for students and other customers to put their books and coats. It was right by the front desk so my folks could keep an eye on it. Additionally there was a surveillance camera pointed right at the cubbyholes.

I worked there for nearly 4 years without an incident. Then one day a coed reported her purse was missing. Problem was she wasn’t sure when she lost it or where for that matter. That is why they go to college-to learn these things.

Anyhow back in the office after going thru hours and hours of tapes mostly just scrolling thru a blank screen we finally found the jerk. As it turned out he had a record and was the husband of one of my trusted employees. You just never know.

To the point: motion activated security cameras can save a lot of time and space on your computer if you are looking for a specific incident. These days all recordings are date/time stamped and if the motion activation feature is employed you can save a ton of time looking for the bad guys.

The motion activated security cameras I am talking about are hidden inside various household objects like an exit sign which is perfect for an office, business or warehouse operation; an alarm clock, two different wall clocks, a tower fan and desk lamp all of which could be used in a home of business application. There is a boom box, air freshener, air purifier and electrical outlet model too.

They are so cleverly disguised no one would know there’s a camera, microphone and DVR inside. To record simply aim in the direction you want recorded and using the remote click to start recording.

These complete motion activated security cameras are a complete system all inclusive. How neat is that? Everything is recorded on an SD card. When you want to play it back put the SD card into your computer’s SD card reader or using the included cable hook it up to your TV-BINGO-that easy!

Bring your surveillance game to the next level with this next generation of all inclusive hidden surveillance cameras with built in DVR, microphone and camera. Find out what is going on when you are not there at home, your business or office with one of these technical marvels.

Business and Home Security-The Role of CCTV

Remote Surveillance With an IP Camera System

In his book “1984″, George Orwell said “Big Brother is watching you”. Well it is not just big brother my friend. You see surveillance cameras all over the place: in banks, on street corners, in hotels, apartment complexes, convenience stores, airports, train stations, buses, school buses, subways, outside office buildings, certainly police cars.

Las Vegas has them by the tons, restaurants have them, and practically any business that takes cash or has lots of people around has them too.

In London they say you can’t go fifty feet on a sidewalk or on a street without being watched. And nowadays the threat of terrorism has only made it more imperative. What are we talking about? Those omni-present, all-seeing, ever vigilant bullet or dome video surveillance cameras that watch our every move. What is it that these owners of business, government agencies and security experts know that homeowners haven’t figured out yet?

An effective video surveillance system for any kind of business these days is almost a must. Why you ask? Given the threat to a business from on the job accidents for employees, to employee theft, not to mention burglary most businesses have to have some way to protect themselves. Crime unfortunately is everywhere and seems to be getting worse.

A burglary occurs every fifteen seconds in the United States. With that kind of a threat why wouldn’t you consider surveillance cameras for your home security?

Until now government agencies and commercial entities were the only ones who could afford CCTV surveillance equipment. That fortunately has changed. CCTV like most technological advances has become more affordable.

Home security cameras as part of a home security system can be an effective deterrent
on two levels. First and most important, a well placed home surveillance camera can send an awesome signal to a savvy burglar. And don’t fool yourself burglars are smart. Why would they knowingly plan on robbing a home with a home security camera and risk getting caught when down the street there is a home without one?

The same holds true of business CCTV. It acts as a powerful deterrent and a great tool to catch the bad guys.

If they are unfortunate enough to not see the surveillance camera and burglarize the property they will get caught. You’ve seen it yourself on the evening news-the masked burglar doing his thing at a bank, liquor store or convenience store-they always get caught don’t they?

So consider getting a home security system for your home. They are easy to install, more affordable than before and will work to eliminate a very real threat of robbery.

Can you use a surveillance system for home, office or business? You actually can’t afford to not have one! They send a message to outsiders and employees and customers-’we are watching so don’t mess with us.’

Hidden Surveillance Cameras for Home and Business

Folks have gotten used to seeing surveillance cameras all over the place. Generally they are anywhere people congregate like airports, stadiums, hotels, casinos etc. They are also more recently in small businesses for security and peace of mind. It is just a fact that crime is less likely to happen if there is a surveillance camera watching over activities.

You see surveillance cameras in big box stores and large parking lots as an effective deterrent to crime and helpful in apprehending suspects if a crime has been committed. When was the last time you saw a video on the evening news of a robbery say at a convenience store? Nearly on a weekly basis! I rest my case!

There is absolutely no question in the value of a surveillance camera for home and business. It can be a valuable addition to your home or business and benefit you in many ways.

Hidden or covert surveillance cameras are by definition less obvious-that is after all the idea-but no less effective. As a matter of fact they may be more effective because the idea is to catch someone doing something they shouldn’t be doing-stealing money, cheating on a spouse, doing drugs at home when mom and dad are gone etc. etc.

The perpetrators will be less likely to perform if they have a camera watching them: thus the hidden or covert camera. These cameras are disguised as common everyday items such as alarm clocks, boom boxes, exit sign, wall clocks, air freshener, electrical wall outlet, desk lamp, ball point pen and more.

The recordings are made in color on an 8 GB SD card. Using a remote control you can start and end recording up to 144 hours worth depending on resolution and speed. Recordings are motion activated so that unbearable dead space is eliminated.

Everything is date/time stamped which is unbeatable evidence in a legal proceeding. To view the recording simply remove the SD card and plug it into your computer’s SD card reader. Or you can use the included RCA cable to hook it up to your TV. It can’t get too much easier than that. Unless, of course, you miss the hassle, headache and guesswork from the old ways. NOT!

Bring your surveillance game to the next level with this next generation of all inclusive hidden surveillance cameras with built in DVR, microphone and camera. Find out what is going on when you are not there at home, your business or office with one of these technical marvels.

How the Wall Clock Hidden Spy Camera Saved Mom

May 29th, 2009

wallclock.jpg

As the population ages, nursing homes are becoming more popular and a real alternative to many seniors. My parents were both in one at one time. While most nursing homes and assisted living facilities are good to great, some are not. Financial constraints limit the quality of employee they can get leading to all sorts of problems.

It has been estimated that up to as many as two million seniors are victims of abuse of all kinds in nursing homes. Elder abuse is an under recognized problem with devastating and even life threatening consequences. Only one in six actual cases is reported because seniors fear reprisals from their care givers.

Elder abuse can occur anywhere – in the home, in nursing homes, or other institutions. It affects seniors across all socio-economic groups, cultures, and races. Based on available information, women and “older” elders are more likely to be victimized. Dementia is a significant risk factor. It is a big and growing problem.

Well my friend Bill’s mom had been in a nursing home for less than two months. She had early signs of dementia. She liked where she was and said the care staff were all very nice. Bill could only visit once a week because his home was in another city. She had her room fixed up the way she wanted it but kept her personal mementos to a minimum.

On one visit Bill’s mom related an issue she was having with a staff member who was threatening her over small things. Bill mentioned it to the floor supervisor who immediately came to the employee’s defense. The supervisor chalked it up to the dementia and an active imagination.

Bill was still suspicious so he got his mom a nice new wall clock for her room. The wall clock had a hidden camera, microphone and DVR all in one neat looking wall clock. Bill aimed it in the direction he wanted, set the recording speed to the lowest setting giving him 144 hrs on an 8GB SD card.

Bill figured he could check it once a week and really see what was going on. The camera is motion activated so a minimum of down time. When you are ready to playback remove the SD card and insert it into your computer or alternatively use the RCA cable to your TV for easy no brainer playback.

There was nothing suspicious the first week he checked so he felt better. Week two was different though. An orderly was seen going thru his mom’s purse and an aide was verbally abusing his mom about medications.

He had the proof he needed to get those two employees fired and save his mom from further abuse. If you want a simple and easy way to record what is going on when you are not there-this is it!

Surveillance Camera System with USB DVR-Sure You Don’t Need One!

May 26th, 2009

cs-usb4ch1.jpg

I have heard this hundreds of times from folks I have talked to over the years. ‘Nah I don’t need a surveillance camera’ they say. After talking to them for a few minutes it becomes clear to them that actually they could use one maybe even two.

From homeowners to business owners, anyone who owns or leases physical property for business or as a residence needs at least one maybe even two hidden cameras and definitely some kind of surveillance system. The potential uses are almost limitless.

Recently I heard of local business that was robbed at knife point in broad daylight. It was a local used bookstore that I had never been too-kind of a Border’s fan myself.

The police have yet to find the perpetrator for lack of a good description. So I saddled up and went to see the owner intent on selling her some self defense products-a stun gun, a pepper spray etc to defend herself and employees.

Introduced myself and told her I why I was there. “You know what I really need is a surveillance camera” she told me. After a few minutes she decided a hidden camera was not what she wanted or needed. “I want people to know they are being monitored and if it ever happens again I want the guy caught.”

In the past most people have shied away from surveillance camera systems for two huge reasons:

1. They were too expensive. A basic 4 channel system could be upwards of $2,000.00 or more with all the necessary components like cameras, monitors, DVR, software, wiring et. al. This immediately put it out of reach of most homeowners and business owners.

2. They were too complicated to set up. Where do all the components go, what goes where, how does this hookup to that? The list of questions goes on.

Thanks to the amazing advances in technology those days are gone. You can get a 4 channel color complete surveillance system for less than $500.00 and install it yourself in 5 minutes or less. Finally an affordable, easy to use solution for home or business surveillance needs.

This complete surveillance system has everything you need to keep an eye on things when you can’t be there 24/7 from anywhere in the world via the internet. And as always world class technical support is available at no extra cost.

Can you use a surveillance system for home, office or business? You actually can’t afford to not have one! They send a message to outsiders and employees and customers-’we are watching so don’t mess with us.’

Alarm Clock Hidden Spy Camera-New Meaning to ‘Keeping an Eye on the Time’

ALARM CLOCK HIDDEN CAMERA

Hidden cameras have been around for a long time. They mostly have been used by law enforcement, government agencies or private investigators for undercover surveillance of illegal activities or to gather incriminating evidence in a legal matter. Hidden camera use by civilians has mostly been prohibitively expensive and/or very complicated to set up until recently.

Now there are some new products on the market that change all that. They are all inclusive hidden cameras that include the camera, DVR and microphone all in one neat little package.

The success of a hidden spy camera is the idea of ‘hiding something in plain sight.’ An alarm clock radio is an everyday item in homes and businesses across the country. That is exactly why they make a perfect surveillance tool for homeowners and business owners.

You put the hidden camera where you want it, plug it in, point in the direction you want to record and press record on the included remote control. Then you are in business-so to speak.

A friend bought an all inclusive alarm clock hidden spy camera with built in DVR about a month ago because he was suspicious of his wife’s activities while he was at work. He wanted to ease his mind or catch her messing around. By the way, marital infidelity is the fastest growing area for private investigators these days. It is a booming business! How sad is that!

After he had it hooked up-all he had to do was plug it in and aim in the direction he wanted-he started recording. Since it is motion activated, only his wife’s movements and her guests would be recorded. Depending on the resolution and speed, up to 144 hours are recorded on an 8GB SD card.

To see what is recorded you can either hook the camera up to a TV or computer monitor with the included RCA cable or remove the SD card and insert into the SD card reader on your computer or an external SD card reader you can order with your hidden camera.

Sure enough after about a week he had visual evidence of his wife’s infidelity which she had been denying for months. He was devastated of course. After confronting his wife with the evidence his next step was an attorney.

The visual and audio evidence collected by a hidden camera is irrefutable evidence that will hold up in any court.

There are 10 of these new all inclusive hidden spy cameras with built in DVR that can be used in a myriad of applications for business, office and home. One of them can certainly be right for you.

USB DVR Wired Surveillance System-Can You Afford to Not Have One?

May 11th, 2009

cs-usb4ch.jpg

It used to be that home or business security or surveillance systems were two things; expensive and so complicated that you had to be a technician to install one. The cost factor alone was the main reason most people didn’t get one. Depending on application they could run north of $5,000.-out of touch for most.

Commercial applications of course would be more.

With the amazing advances in technology you can get a four channel USB DVR surveillance system for under $500.00 a fraction of what it used to cost just months ago.

The USB DVR is a surveillance computer hardware that turns your home or office computer into a powerful, global-wide video surveillance system in 5 minutes or less.

The four indoor/outdoor day/night bullet cameras give you unbelievable flexibility on location coverage. You can decide if you want the cameras inside or outside or both. They can be used even in the dark.

Use the brackets and attach the cameras to a solid surface. Then wire the cameras with the included 100 foot cable to the USB DVR. Finally hook the USB DVR into a USB port on your computer. Then you install the software and are ready to go.

If you own a business or are a homeowner you can ill afford to not have one of these 4 Channel USB DVR wired Surveillance Systems. It will virtually pay for itself in a few years with lower insurance premiums for one thing. For another it sends a strong non verbal message to those crooks who would consider burglarizing your home or business. Go pick on someone else!

You can keep track of your employees at your business or watch your babysitter or kids.

You can view the front and back yard of your home to prevent vandalism. There are multiple uses only limited by your imagination and length of cable you have.

And the neatest thing is you can do it from anywhere in the world by logging into your computer’s IP address. You can record live video form the camera straight to the PC’s hard drive.

There are two levels of resolution 640×480 and 320×240 and three recording modes-motion, manual and schedule.

Having a surveillance system like this is a huge bonus to day cares, animal boarding facilities, apartment complexes, vacation homes or for just keeping an eye on things while you’re away.

When you need to keep an eye on your home or business, your kids or employees but can’t be there personally this 4 channel USB DVR surveillance system can be another set of eyeballs for you.

If you want a simple no brainer way to record what is going on when you are not there-THIS IS IT!
