The average value of goods taken in a home burglary is closer to $1700 with another $1700 worth of damage done to the home. One out of six homes is a victim of a home burglary on an annual basis.
This is a good example of how surveillance cameras can be used. Instead of a surveillance camera you could use a hidden camera for the same thing.
Our Dome Camera can be used indoors for home security. It switches to black-and-white when there is low light conditions. The IR LED’s augment night vision to 20 feet in complete darkness.

He eventually stole the jewelry of the homeowners wife. She ordinarily would’ve been home at that time but was delayed.

Here’s a great story about a burglar who was a professional revealing some of his secrets. He shared with authorities that a security system NEVER stopped him. He wasn’t afraid of them at all because he could get in and out of a house before the police arrived.
You can read the whole story HERE.
He went on to say that there were only two things that really made him think twice about burglarizing a home. One was Security Cameras around the home. If he saw security surveillance cameras outside the home he would think twice about going in. Burglars may not be the sharpest knives in the drawer but they’re not dumb either. They don’t want to get caught and chances are if he does burglarize a house and there’s video of it, the police have a 50% better chance of catching the bad guy.
The second thing that would stop him was a guard dog. A pit bull or Doberman would definitely change his mind about burglarizing a house.

This is a story about Port St. Lucie in Florida. They have experienced an increase in crime lately with the most serious being a shooting at one of the recreational facilities. The city decided to purchase some high tech surveillance cameras, hire some additional security people and issue passes for all facilities
You can read the whole story HERE.
The story goes on to say that “The purchase of high-resolution cameras that can pan 360 degrees and zoom across long distances and large areas are also being seen as key in combating crime in city parks. The remotely controlled cameras will allow direct monitoring of trouble spots via police or city computers, and will be sensitive enough to read vehicle tags.

Here’s a story about a string of burglaries in a local town in Australia. Burglars knew exactly what they were after as is usually the case and are in and out of the stores quickly.
You can read the rest of the story HERE.
In one instance the burglar “knocked out and stole the security cameras, motion detectors and the alarm. He definitely knew what he was doing.” If the bad guys steals your security cameras, motion detector and alarm you’re in big trouble. He must’ve known that there was a motion detector and alarm in the business so it was probably an inside job.
The story presents a good case for using a hidden camera inside a business. And the hidden camera that makes absolutely the most sense is one that no one would ever suspect and that is the Exit Sign Camera that has a DVR in it. It records motion activation on to an 8 GB SD card.

Here’s a story about how home burglaries are up in in Charlotte. That shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone who reads this blog where we constantly report that burglaries are on the increase.
You can read the whole story HERE.
Additionally, the story goes on to say “The latest crime stats show residential burglaries are up almost 13 percent. More people are installing surveillance cameras to catch criminals in the act”
Is it a coincidence that most home burglaries happen to homes that don’t have surveillance cameras? We think not.
The Home Security Camera shown here has 56 infrared LEDs that allows for night vision capability up to 150 feet away in complete darkness. The lens itself can be adjusted in the rear from 9 to 22 mm.
A home security surveillance camera is one of the best ways that you can prevent a burglary in the first place, or if you do get burgled catch the bad guy on video.
